Land of Sky will be holding their 2nd Pass to Earn event for Career Day participants! Kickstart your job search by attending the Career Day event, meeting with specialized vendors, and earning a laptop.

Under the 2026 work requirement, each eligible adult can stay in compliance in more than one way.
Employment
15 hours of employment per week per eligible adult, verified by paystubs or a letter of hire.
Self-employment
Self-employment, as verified by tax returns.
Full-time student
Full-time student status, verified by an active school schedule.
Volunteering
Volunteer hours, verified by documentation from an approved organization.
Active military duty
Residents currently serving active duty for the military will be considered in compliance.

Transportation
Bus routes, passes, and rides to work or training around Asheville and Buncombe County.

Head Start, subsidized care, early learning centers, and referral services.

Free budgeting, credit, and debt counseling to help you plan ahead.
Education & Training
